English bio Volker Schmitz 🇬🇧

reath coach, teacher, and author. Based in Hamburg and Las Palmas, he supports people who want to deepen their health, energy, and mental clarity through breathing and awareness based training.

His work brings together study, practice, and long term discipline. Volker studied musicology and Sinology in Hamburg, with a strong interest in phenomenology and the study of consciousness. At the same time, he began training in Chinese martial and internal arts as a teenager and practiced daily for many years in kung fu, tai chi, and qigong. His most important mentor is the Chinese master Ye Ankang.

Volker has worked as a trainer, among others, for Meridian Spa Hamburg and for VW in Germany. Between 1996 and 2004 he held a leading role at the Wushu Zentrum Hamburg. Later he deepened his work in breath training and was trained in the Buteyko Method by Dr. Artour Rakhimov, with exchange and collaboration in the field with, among others, Misha Sakharoff.

He is the author of Buteyko in der Praxis and Trojan Breath Effect: Mastering the Buteyko Method.

Pierre about Volker

I reached out to Volker when I had just started as a Buteyko therapist trained in the Netherlands. In a Facebook group for Buteyko practitioners I kept seeing his posts. I was immediately impressed by the way he presented himself: with a lot of bravado, and at the same time clearly demonstrating deep knowledge.

I contacted him, and that became the start of many online sessions in which Volker deepened and broadened my understanding, especially in the direction of yoga and meditation. For that I will always be grateful.

What I also keep noticing, again and again: Volker is a highly energetic and upbeat person. To me, he embodies a truly inquisitive mind, someone who is bursting with energy and who invites you to look beyond your own familiar frameworks.
